Janet Miller earned her bachelor's degree in Journalism/Public Relations from Northern Illinois University. After moving to Toronto, Canada, she earned a certificate in Not-for-Profit and Voluntary Sector Management at York University's School of Administrative Studies. While living in Canada, she worked in arts management, first at The Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts, in Oakville, Ontario, then as Executive Director of the Oakville Arts Council, where she provided support services to more than 35 of the Town's arts and cultural organizations, as well as serving as an advisor to the Town of Oakville's cultural grants committee. Upon returning to Illinois, Janet worked for 12 years as the Director of Brand Management and Communication for Girl Scouts of DuPage County Council, outside of Chicago, working on behalf of more than 25,000 girls from 5 to 17 years of age and more than 5,000 adult volunteers. After retiring from the organization in 2008, she moved to Clemson, South Carolina where she earned a master's degree in English, Professional Communication (MAPC), and taught First-Year Composition as a graduate teacher of record. She moved to California with her husband in 2010 and, when not working, enjoys golfing and swimming in Dove Canyon, and rooting for the Clemson Tigers. Most importantly, Janet is the world's biggest hockey fan. Go Blackhawks!
